Resources

Introduction:

In this contemporary era, we all know that resources are limited in nature as well as everyone is busy in their own lives so it is very important to give some attention to our nature. It's our responsibility to make sure that these resources are used effectively and efficiently. For that purpose firstly, we should need to understand what basically a resource is and what different types of resources we have in our environment, and why it is important to use these resources effectively and efficiently.

Q: Now make a list of different things that you observe in your surroundings that are useful for you?

So you must have observed different things like tables, water, electricity, books, clothes. let's see if these things are considered resources or not.

Meaning of Resources:

All the things that you observe in your surroundings are considered as a resource because the resource is anything that satisfies human needs and that thing must-have utility and value.
For Example Books, vehicles, tables, electricity all these things are resources because they are not only useful for you in one or the other way but also have an economic value attached to them.

Resources we use in our daily life

How does something become a resource?
When things have a value attached to them then they become a resource. The utility of a thing gives value. Some resources have economic value and some do not.

For example, minerals have economic value but a beautiful landscape may not have an economic value attached to them. But both of them are considered as a resource because they are useful for us: one gives us different minerals other provides us a mental piece.

Q: Make a  list of things that are Resources for you but do not have commercial value?

Factors that change the substance into resources:

Substances can be changed into resources by two essential factors that are time and technology as they are related to the necessities of the people.

For example: Until now we have uranium as a mineral but it is not considered a resource because it does not have any use and does not have value. But with the passage of time and advancement of technology, we came to know that the ions present in uranium can produce heat and with the help of technology we can use uranium as a fuel in nuclear power plants.

Q: Give an example from your daily life where time and technology plays important role in changing the substance into a resource?

You can watch this beautiful short animated video by the Periwinkle channel and get an idea about the different resources we have in our environment.

Conclusion:

All the things that are present in your surroundings that satisfy your needs are considered resources. These resources must have some utility and value and time and technology are the most important factor for changing the substance into a resource.

Think and share your thoughts in the comment box:
